I'm sorry...

I'm sorry I haven't posted... I've been busy working on the house... I am starting the challenge over again, with March. I'm going to try my best to post every day. :) Ok... we haven't done any grocery shopping so far, and it's looking like there won't be able to grocery shop for the rest of the month (if we do, it won't be much...) So, it's a complete pantry challenge! I'm excited cause we have alot of food to go through :). I've started inventorying my pantry & freezer, haven't got it done yet, but I have alot of food!!! :) 5 gallons of milk in the freezer, 5 chickens, 2 turkeys, just for starters!!! Here's what we've eaten so far:

Sunday: Smoked Chicken
Monday: Meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, homemade carrot cake :)
Tuesday: Chunky Soup
Wednesday: Fried Rice
Thursday: Leftovers

Lunches are usually soup or leftovers.

All out of the pantry/freezer :) Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think! I love hearing from my readers!!!

  1. Wow, I didn't know one could freeze milk! That is so cool! Although, sometimes it gets too cold and I find ice in it, but never thought of actually freezing it on purpose. I will do that! One thing I've thought of doing to save on plastic freezer bags is saving my plastic cottage containers to freeze stuff I pick this summer. Are there any "you pick" places down your way?

  2. Ok, a couple comments to help you out... You can freeze milk, and the sides bulging out is normal, it's just expanding... When you thaw it out, it'll take about 3 days in the fridge, and you have to shake it up good before you use it... it settles when it thaws.

As for the plastic containers for freezing, that's a good idea, but I've done that some, and have found that you get freezer burn that way... :( What I've taken to doing is any plastic baggies that haven't had raw meat in them, or anything greasy, I wash & reuse them.

We go pick blueberries almost every year :) I can't wait!!! We also are hoping to go pick strawberries this year, and I'm not sure if there's anything else or not... oooo Apples & Peaches!!!! I always get peaches real cheap and freeze them for cobbler... speaking of that, I have some in the freezer now, we may have cobbler once the carrot cake is all gone!!!
